Good Morning
I hope everyone is ok now that the ice storms have passed and many have started warming up with the ice going away. We were fortunate to be on the "line" of where the bad weather was and just some of the wintry stuff hit us, but north of me is where many could be without power until the middle of this month. My prayers have been for all those that have had to survive and make do until they can get power and utilities restored to their homes.

It's been mostly work at the day job since last week and all I will say is that I'm very thankful to have a job as some near me no longer have a steady paycheck. I wish and pray for all who have lost their method of income and I hope the best for everyone. If I could fix the problem with our world, I sure would.

The weather is nice here today and the humidity is lower than last week, so today I get to spray more finish on the kitchen table without the finish "blushing" on me. I am hoping for delivery of the table next week. YEA!!!

Cooler temps today from the 65 degrees F we had here yesterday. I played bass at church yesterday and have rehearsal tonight for next Sunday.

So what did YOU do this weekend???

My last comment is: What a game that was played last night in the SuperBowl.!!!! Congrats to the Steelers!!!

Best of weeks to you all.

Saturday, I indoctrinated another turner. Then after he left I turned another B/S..just because.

Sunday.....after having continual increasing backpain for 3 or 4 days, I spent most of the day laying flat on my back on the livingroom floor. My back feels much better today. Read another James Patterson - Alex Cross novel and watched the Super Bowl. We were invited to a Super Bowl party at one of the neighbors and Sharon had cooked a turkey and made some deserts...but she had an upset stomach. She delivered the food...apologized and we just huddled in for the day.

I finished the entertainment center and installed it which was a significant portion of my weekend. Other than that shopping with the wife and daughter on Saturday (stopped at Circuit City--didn't find any deals yet--a lot of stuff was still more than Amazon and you can return things to Amazon) and visiting my parents Sunday evening.

I had a rather productive weekend. I completed the final assembly for a end table that matches the coffee table I made for my wife. (Pics soon to come in the project thread). I also finished my joiners mallet this weekend as well. I am super proud of this as it is my best work to date. I will soon post the pictures of both projects soon.

Other than that spent time with the family, made some selections for an upcoming cattle sale, went to church, and spent some time with friends.

I am getting pumped up for this weekends woodworking show! I can't wait to go see whats new. I have a good group of friends and family going up there.

Everyone have a safe week.
Matt

I bit the big one... Got the Jessem router table/stand, mast-r-lift xl, mast-r-fence, mite-r-slide.

It went together fairly painlessly, though the diagrams could be a little better.

It's one solid piece, mounted the PC 7518. Havn't gotten to cut anything yet, wanting to get both dust ports connected up so I don't create too big of a mess!

I really like the Incra setup, end of the day I had to make a choice.;)

to this:

with my goal to have it look something like this when finished:

I spent 6 hours on saturday screwing up my first attempt at a new top, and then about 4 on sunday making a new one. Luckily I had laminate on hand that I was going to use for a counter, but ended up not needing it. I only needed to get a couple 1/4 sheets of mdf. Lots more to do . . .

I devoted the weekend to my shop building some jigs that I had been postponing. I made a circle cutting jig for my Rikon 14 based loosely on Norms improved model. I revamped the indexing slide so I could make smaller circles. It will make circles up to 84" but that is probably more than I will need. I also made a taper cutting jig based on a photo I saw in one of my woodworking catalogs. It has a sliding fence and sliding hold downs and works great. All the jigs were made with phenolic plywood.

Not much woodworking, other than gluing up a cutting board blank. Lots otherwise, though. I need a weekend to recover from my weekend.

I finished this and a small stool repair job given to me from my brother in law. The stool was broken on one of the legs so I glued it back together and made a Dutchman repair to it...oh... and loaded it with inlay. I will post pics of it later. But for now, here is the frame I completed for my command. Also messed up on a project at the lathe (firewood):D Still learning!

I redid the hot water valve under the sink Sat am, installed the new dishwasher, had everything up and running before noon (started after 9:30). Decided the cold water valve needed replacement, and found the lock ring on one sink drain was broken and leaking. Decided to wait to get parts on the way out that evening for a get together with friends we hadn't seen in at least 7 years. Sunday am, started the cold water project and had decided to redo the drain pipes while I was at it. Was out of plumbers putty, got the wrong thing the first trip, so had to go back. :o Finished that at noon, cut some low hanging limbs off of one tree and cut it up for firewood for next year. Cut up most of the damaged slatwall material I pulled off of the shop walls during during that part of the rehab. Will have to put it out for trash pick up in waves. Fought to get a 1/4" blade to track on my E16. Got it going, cut 2 of the 12 braces for the light reflectors/fixtures. As I went to get some more, it popped off the wheels. Finally got it tracking correctly and got the rest of them cut out.
But I noticed that the bottom guides will not adjust back far enough to catch just the back of the 1/4" blade. Top guides do fine. Guess I'll have to do Sam Blasco's trick for the bottom guides.
Went in and actually watched some of the Super Bowl. Was an entertaining game for a change. Jim.

So... I wasnt allowed to spend any money at the orange store, so I never left the house this weekend. I did manage to be productive.

I Used the clamps from a retired clamping work table to make a mo betta 'clampable' clamping work table. 6 2x4's glued up into a block make up the bottom.
Also made a router jig (positioned above) out of two 3" hardwood strips for cutting dadoes.

I stayed up till 3:30am on Saturday cleaning out my 1-car garage so I can have a place to work.

Then I spent most of Sunday going "ouch, ouch, ouch...." as my bad leg reminded me why I can't be spending that much time on my feet.

Friday night it was the son and daughter in law visiting with our grandson and I really enjoyed seeing him once again. Can't get enough of that. I was hoping to be able to get started on a project for a freind that encompasses building six radiator covers. Could have used the weekend to get a great start on them. However, the check to get underway never materialized until late Saturday and I couldn't cash it in time to get the materials. Did that today after work. Anyway, the LOML bought me a router oriented book for Christmas and there was a project in it detailing small routed out boxes and I played some of Saturday and most of Sunday fabbing up parts of these boxes. More play than anything else in the shop........but it was IN THE SHOP.

Here is part 2 of my post above:
Inlay is Red Crimson and Malachite stone with Mahogany border. Nothing fancy but he asked me to Dr. it up so he knew it was coming back to him with Inlay!

Normal weekend around here. Equestrian stuff on Saturday plus giving a reference tour to someone close to signing with the contractor we used for the addition Nice folks. Sunday, I did some major cleaning in the master suite while the girls were off at Church, hung some art and did a few other minor things around the house. Then, I spent some quality time with SketchUp! working out my next project, a cherry buffet for the great room. :) And no, I didn't watch the game. Went out to dinner instead...no lines...no waiting. Excellent fillet! :D
