Well, I have the finish laid on the second humidor. If ya'all didn't see it, I posted it's twin sister over at this thread (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=103218) yesterday. When I started this project, I had never used the hinges, both the hidden barrel hinges and the lid stays. I figured I might screw it up, so I made a back up along with it. Fortunately, they both turned out OK.

I see I need to clean some mess off the hinges, but otherwise it's done. I'm not putting the humidor inards in it quite yet, as they are sealed in the box they came with and better off in there, for now.....

At any rate, here is the sequel - Cherry, Kingwood & Spanish Cedar. Thanks for looking!

Dog gone Ed!!!
How many of these things are you working on? You sure seem to be cranking them out! Is this one already sold as well? Good luck! Once I clear my shop of the Morris chair, maybe I will post one as well. Boxes seem to be in style. Great job Ed!

It took me two weeks to do both of them. I decided to make two, because I was not familiar with the barrel hinges & lid stays and was afraid I'd screw one of them up.... My hope was to yield one.... I got lucky :D

It didn't take long to do the Spanish Cedar lining.... like about an hour or less for each box. So, when you guessed I was building one off that other post, they were both almost done.....

No, this one is not sold, but I'm hoping for it to become a display box somewhere soon....

Where did you learn the glove tight fit for the cedar to seal with the top? Plans, tutorials?

From you guys, of course! And from looking at plans and other humidors that are out there..... And most of all lot of math!!!

Another excellent humidor Ed.

Looks like you have an assemble line going the way you are cranking them out.

Another WOW.

What's the trick with the hinges and the stays? The secrets to installing them are............................................??

The hinges and the stays were surprisingly easy. The hinges are drilled when you have the bottom and the four sides together. You drill down 1", mount the top, then you cut the lid, leaving two perfectly matched holes. Then you just pound them in and everything lined up perfectly.

The stays - I did on my router table with a 1/4" bit and using stop blocks. I did several test cuts on pieces of scrap wood, just to make sure the hing was fitting. Routed down 1/2" and that was it. Of course, the left side is completely opposite from the right side.
