Saw some new Thompson Bowl Gouge monster steel today. The bowl gouge was 5/8 about 19"long mounted in a 30" handle being used by a gentle giant named Bill Grumbine.

Very nice tool ,Bill was doing demo at PFW in Philly. Great job Bill!

George, that is the prototype Bill was using at the demo, his first batch of of tools will arrive Monday. The 16 inch 5/8V bowl gouge is a way to reach into the deepest vessels when nothing else can plus the extra long handle allows the tool to hang way over the tool rest and still have control. The is a good idea Bill had to overcome a problem.

Do you mean 19" + 30"? That would be 49" total length. That is hiking stick length. Got to see this.
