Is there a way to filter out previously read threads?

When viewing “New Posts” I find that I frequently reopen posts that I’m not interested in viewing again. Is there a way to filter out previously read threads so they don’t appear when “New Posts” are selected? I’ve perused available options but this one doesn’t seem to be available.
