Well this was destined for the burn pile but thought it showed a hint of beauty (?). This is a small piece of cherry 4"x2" and I really had wanted to try a small hollow form...one big catch later I realized the stars were not aligned for me to venture into that realm...so I turned it into a confetti lamp. I know the shape is a little "frumpy" but overall I feel the grain pattern will make up for it. I also left the top rough from the chainsaw marks and thought it added a little something to the piece...let me know!
Thanks for looking (and encouraging) as usual any and all comments welcome.

Pretty wood Allen - glad you were able to figure a way to turn it! Chainsaw marks.... we call that texturing! Looks OK in this piece but have to think a totally smooth finish may have highlighted the wood even more. Just my opinion!

Keep up the good work!

Great looking lamp. I agree with Steve. That would be texturing.

Nice piece, but I think the rough top detracts from the overall design.

I think the texturing goes well with the checking occurring in the piece. Overall, really nice.
