Are Sommerfeld and CMT the same router bits, just different colors?

Hi Tody,

I don't think they are the same but I can understand why one might think so since Marc Sommerfeld used to sell CMT through his website and I think a lot of his bits look pretty much just like CMT's bits.

I'm trying to recall if I've seen any magazine reviews of his bits. He is a respected woodworker and so I don't think you'd be disappointed with them but I've no direct experience.

"Sommerfeld's Signature Series" brand of bits are all Chinese .. .. .. pretty good Chinese, but ALL Chinese. At the show, he sometimes still sells off some old CMT stock, but all of his "Signature Series" stuff that is yellow, is Chinese.

I have Sommerfeld's raised panel and tounge and groove sets. I couldn't be happier. His videos are well done. I had a couple of questions when I first ordered from his site. Marc took the call and worked my problems out. Sorry to here they are made in China, however, the advantage of all bits being height matched was the reason I bought them. John
