Looking for ways/methods to add a bead to a curved apron on a table.
Something like the pic but simpler, with the beading only on the apron.
Client wants a 3" wide apron for most of the apron length and have the ends go to 4" wide with a gentle S curve for the last 8 inches or so.
There some sort of router bit?
TIA for any and all replies.

You could make a scratch stock.

Ditto. Almost impossible to do with a handheld router.

I'll agree with the scratch stock. Pretty easy to make yourself.

If you just have to spend money, there is a Lee Valley model, the old Stanley 66, and the Lie Nielsen knock off of the 66, and a Tools for Working Wood model based on another 19th century model. By the way, the L-N blades fit the 66, and if you see a 66 without the curved fence, the L-N curved fence is only $15 and will fit, though with a bit of filing needed.

Late to the party, but still in time to jab Brian with yet another reason why hand tools shall rein supreme......

Hand tools are the way to go here Bri. Scratch stock, beading tool and carving tools will get the job done. If you need any of them give me a call.
