Hi All,

I need some help. I've been looking for a shaper and found a next to new Delta 43-431 complete with fence, mobile base and a few cutters for $1000.00. As you all know a new 43-495x is around $2400.00. My questions are;

First What is the difference between 43-431 and 43-431x and 43-495x?
Second Is there any limitations on the 43-431 that I should know about?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thank
Kelvin

If the shaper is "next to new" that's a good price. The mobile base is worth a hundred bucks or so and the "few cutters" could easily end up being worth as much or more than the machine!

Iirc the 43-431X is the same as the 43-495X minus the fence (we're talking new)........ I believe the 43-431 's main difference from the 43-431X is the X5 decal.

Thanks Jim, David, John,

I’ve picked up a 43-431 with a fence for $925. The shaper has been sitting for some time, has some light surface rust and is missing wrenches. It comes with a mobile base and a few cutters. I've been looking for some time and to buy new is too expensive. I believe you are all right that the 43-431 is the same unit as the 43-495 minus a few updates and maybe has a different fence. My comment “next to new” might be a little optimistic but with a little clean up it should be fine. Now I have to make the doors I got the shaper for.

Thanks again
Kelvin
