Would online woodworking classes be appealing to anyone? I'm thinking the set up would be that the teacher would have a live webcam and the class would be on something neanderthal related, like hand-cutting dovetails or making a decorative veneer. and the "students" would obviously have to be at their computer watching and asking questions, either through voice or text chat. Just wondering if this sounds like a potentially good idea or if its just stupid. Thanks for any feedback!

In a way this exists, but not in this format. Look at the Woodwisperer and Eurekazone videos on You Tube. They do those as video's/podcasts, and people then ask questions.

Sad thing is, there isn't more of it.

Bad thing is, any bad habits the teacher(s) may have, may get passed on.

There are a lot of podcast: The wood whisperer, FFW and Wood Smith just to name a few. The ones from Woodsmith are the most instructional I think.

Shopsmith just discontinued such a class called Sawdust sessions. You would sign up and tune in every other Saturday. You could e-mail in questions as the class was going on. Very interesting. Hated to see it go.
The videos are available online(reruns) if you would like to see how it was done.
