Stopped by the local lumberyard this morning for some maple and coathooks for a project. While picking through the maple I spotted a rack of 1/2" ply 1/2 sheets with a sign on it - $5 each or 5 for $20. Looked briefly, it seemed like a good price and without pulling anything out of the rack it looked flat so at least good for shop furniture.
Went about my business and went back this afternoon. Well, see for yourself. This is prefinished, cabinet grade I suppose, really nice stuff. I picked out 7 sheets of light maple, 5 of what you see on top of the stack and a few others. 15 total 1/2 sheets of what looks like premium stuff for $60. All but a couple are perfect, there are a couple with a gouge or defect but for $4 I can stand some waste :). Bout 1/2 of it is pre-finished on both sides and the rest is prefinished on one side with a quality unfinished veneer on the other side. The guy said the put in a bid at an auction, probably had 100+ pieces.
Might have to go back for more ;).
