I know it's been a while since I posted anything but would like to share this cedar chest I built for my baby daughter. It took too long to do but I had fun. It has Walnut corners/base/hinges, Cherry top and Aromatic Cedar box.
I used several coats of Tung oil and wipe-on Polly. Thanks for looking!

Very nice Ron. Your daughter will love it and pass it on to her kids. I like your finishing room too :) Thanks Charles, it's been too cold here to finish in my shop. Today is much warmer at 25 degrees ;)

Ron, Great job, really like those hinges. Your girl will be able to put a lot of hope in it because it's already full of love. Happy Woodworking, Craig

Ron, Craig said it perfectly. I like those walnut corners. Did you say that the hinges are walnut, too (I couldn't tell from the picture)? Those are cool!!!

I like that you did a fine job for sure. The hinges look to be made from wood is that correct?

Very nice chest Ron. As OP have said......will be a family heirloom for generations. I know your daughter will cherish it always.

Yes they are Walnut. I designed them to work with an overlap of the top in the back. I enjoyed making them more than the chest! Thanks.

Fantastic Ron. It reminds me of one my mom had back in the 50's and brings back some southern memories. Excellent job on the hinges and thanks for the pic as I may use that design down the road a piece.

Well done Bama man...
