Anyone know of a on-line source of old Stanley owners manuals? Either printed or PDF.

Alf (Alice Frampton) has got links to manuals for the common Stanley combination planes - 50, 45, 55: http://www.cornishworkshop.co.uk/.

While it's not explicitly Stanley and not online, the book "Planecraft," available for about $12 from Woodcraft, is useful. It's a reprint of a book written for Record planes during an era when a lot of their line was copied from Stanley's models, and it's got some good information for rabbets (like the 78), shoulder (you have to extrapolate from their plane models, which are based on Preston designs rather than Stanley), router (both full-size like the 71 and little), some combination (the only directly relevant one is the 405, which is a copy of the 45) planes, as well as basic bench planes. I think everyone who uses hand tools should have a copy of this book.
