I am wondering which HVLP systems you use in your finishing process? Do you finish with water based products? I do a lot of finishing with water based and am now looking at a HVLP system. What would you recommend?

Thanks'
Richard

I only spray water borne finishes (generally Target Coatings USL) and shellac and use a Wagner HVLP Conversion gun off of a 60 gallon IR compressor.

I've just started but I also only use water-based finishes using a Fuji Q4 Pro turbine and their GT-X2 gravity gun.

I have a Fiji 4 stage I use only for WB finishes and an old Amspray I use for solvent based and if they both fail I have a HVLP conversion gun for backup.

Do you have an air compressor?

I have a accuspray 230k (three stage) unit with 2 #10 Guns. I spray mostly waterborne form ML Campbell and Fuhr International.

I use a 4-stage Apollo turbine with their atomizer gun. Its a great combination. I shoot Taget USL and shellac.

I use an Accuspray 230K unit and I spray shellac and pre-cat lacquer. I don't like using anything else. However, I would like to try some Target Coatings finishes since they are bragged on so much. Sure wished their products were sold locally. ;)

I use a QualSpray gravity feed LVLP from Homestead Finishing with a 60 gal compressor. Mostly spray Target Coatings, USL and Hybrivar, and dewaxed shellac. I also spray latex acrylic enamel on occasion.

I have the Earlex HVLP and early experiences with it have been positive. Not the most expensive, but for my uses works well. Shooting lacquer so far. :)

I have a Walcom pressure-pot based setup with a 1.2 n/n combo (I forget the model number but the gun is green) from Homestead finishing , a Walcom Geo syphon feed with a 1.7 n/n combo and a little gun that I use for small jobs and shading (although not HVLP). I drive them with a IR 60-gallon compressor. I spray mostly Target Coatings WB products, dye stains and dewaxed shellac.

Fuji Q4 - Have moved to all waterborn after being introduced to target USL on this site. It is unbelievably easy to spray and even easier to clean up (not to mention breathe in the shop the next day - which is the most important factor of all). I am not a pro - strictly a hobby for me which also tells you how easy it must be for a novice to pick it up.

Yes but it's only a 1.5hp with an 8 gal tank. DOn't know if this is big enough.

Check the CFM rating at either 90 or 40psi.

There are lots of guns available now that have low CFM requirements. I recently picked up an Asturo mini that only requires 3-4 CFM @ 40.
