I hear nothing but good about the SD-508 super dado but at twice the price of the SD-208 Professional Dado, I'm haveing a hard time justifying the add'l money for something I don't use that often. Right now, I get by with an old Craftsman 7" non-carbide stacked set that does not give flat bottoms, but it does the job on my RAS and Delta CS.

I have the SD-508 and am pleased. I bought in on Amazon for $159 with free shipping and $25 off etc. I am very pleased the cuts, especially in plywood. Flat bottom, clean sides and no chipping on top.

The 508 has more teeth on the outside blades and the chippers too (I believe). I would do it again.

I've got the SD208 and though I am sure you get something better with the SD508, mine suits me fine.

Hey Tim,

I've had the SD-208 model for about 6-7 years now & I use it fairly often. So far, it is still cutting super smooth - without a problem. No tear out & nice clean dados, every time. I have not sharpened these blades yet!
You might find the best price through Amazon-Tool Crib, but there are a few other places around also. I believe the set cost around $99-$125.
You will not be dissapointed in this set.
Happy dadoing!

John

I've had the 208 for a short time now and only made a couple cuts but it does everything you'd want it to and does it well.

I got mine at Sears for $49 on the closeout shelf.

I have no problems with my 208, it performs just fine.

I bought the 8" four chipper dado set and thought it was no good. Then I checked the arbor on my table saw. It has a tapered thread so I could not get the blades to stack. Saw is gone replaced with a Unisaw, nice dado's

Since price is important (when isn't it?) You might consider the 6" version. I have the 206 and like you I don't use it that often. I have never need the extra depth. How deep do you need to cut anyway?

I totally agree with Larry. I have the six inch model and I've never had problems with dado depth. The cheap model cuts great dados with very little or no chip-out. I see no reason to buy the more expensive version.

good luck.

Have the SD208. Great set for the price.
Go for it!
