Hello Folks,

What's the difference between the Bosch 1617 combo kit and the Bosch 1617EVSPK combo kit?

Thanks,

Hello Folks,

Thanks,

The EVS means variable speed. PK usually means kit. A kit usually has a case, plunge base, fixed base, wrenches, dust collection adapters (maybe a centering tool and a few bushings w/adapter, and if you are really lucky sometimes they even include an edge guide).

Thanks. The one I already have is the 1617EVSPK. The other one that I'm looking at is just the 1617. It does have the case, both bases, wrenches, a few accessories, etc. From what you're saying though it would appear that it isn't the variable speed. Correct?

Thanks,

The odds are good that if it doesn't indicate VS, it isn't.

I have seen both out there and found it to be a bit confusing as well.

I found the following flavors of the Bosch router out there:
1. 1617 - 2HP single speed router with fixed base
2. 1617EVS - 2 1/4 HP electronic variable speed router with fixed base
3. 1617EVSPK - 2 1/4 HP electronic variable speed router with fixed and plunge bases.
4. 1617EVSPK+ - 2 1/4 HP electronic variable speed router with fixed and plunge bases and edge guide

I opted for the 1617EVSPK+ and waited for a sale and picked it up for $200 2-3 years ago.
