I've been looking around at the rustic/mexican furniture and it seems that most of it is 1/4" inch, not 1/2" that I would have suspected.

What I will be building is similar to this:

Would 1/4" be safe w/ the proper framing?

I know pine isn't the best wood but it's what the customer wants and they understand the potential issues w/ it. Is there a particular pine that would work better than others for this? There is a local mill here I can pick up pine, I'm guessing it's pondrosa?

1/4" thick stock?? I'm confused. What exactly is 1/4"? It sounds awfully thin...do you mean 3/4" thick? That sound better to my ears....

Yes, you are correct, my mistake. I was looking at 3/4" versus true 1" stock. Hoping that 3/4" would work?

3/4" is pretty standard for this type of work. It will all be solid pine stock? No plywood?

Solid for now, I'd like to use some pine ply but havn't located any around here yet.

3/4" stock should work fine for this application. Just make sure to brace it properly where the TV will be supported.

With a pine mill just around the corner w/ these prices, not sure any ply would be cheaper for this one??

I would presume rough stock 1" here is true 1" which would leave me room to joint/plane to 3/4"?
