Thomas Bennett, one of our SMC members, had a nice article written about him in "Woodshop News", a national trade publication for the woodworking industry. In addition to being a full-time cabinet maker, Tom does a _lot_ of gorgeous turnings in his spare time and also serves as president of the Southeast Ohio Woodturners, an AAW chapter in Athens, Ohio. You can check out the neat article online at

John - thanks for bringing this to our attention! Great article! I still remember the breathtaking platter Thomas posted back last March! Hope to see him post some more of his work real soon!

Wow I need a bigger shop! I have tons of wood but not nearly the skills and drive as Mr. Bennett has! That is why there are dreams!

Thanks for all the kind words. The approval of my fellow craftspeople means more to me than my customers or anyone else. The author of the article, Kerry Pierce, is an expert on Shaker furniture. He's written several books and is a frequent contributor to a lot of the woodworking magazines.
I would post more of my work but I'm still having trouble with my photography. Most of my turnings are large. By the time I reduce the photos , they don't seem to have any "life" left in them. My goal is to start from scatch and re-read all the posts and tutorials on photography many of you submitted. Here's a few shots of an 18 inch ash platter.
I really enjoy SMC and have learned so much from everyone in the woodturning and the general woodworking. Thanks to the moderators for keeping it going.
