Cherry Laurel from central florida???

Hello all, got som very big, red looking Cherry Laurel logs from a friend, is this a good turninng wood? is any one familiiaf with it? i searched this fourm and the internet and found verry little info.....

in my opinion, not really, i have a lot too and it cracks very easily, you have to make sure the pith is totally out, also, sit doesnt sand well, removing tool makes is very hard because it seems like it has a lot of pitch that clogs the piece. it does turn decent, but it isnt camphor or sycamore or maple.
