Well, here's another box hot off the presses.... It's made from Cherry & Rosewood... Wine flocking. It was a fun one to make too....

Finishing schedule....

2 coats of BLO - cured for 5 days.
1 coat of shellac - wet-sanded w/400.
3 coats of semi-gloss deft lacquer, wet-sanded w/600.
3 coats of semi-gloss deft lacquer, wet-sanded to 600
1 coat of semi-gloss deft lacquer-saw it was getting too shiny for my
taste.
3 coats of satin deft lacquer - wet sanded with 1500
Buffed out with a buffing pad that fits on my ROS.

Thanks for looking and I appreciate any comments and critiques....

Another great looking box Ed. I'm also amazed at the finishing schedule. You've got more patience than I :)

Thanks Guys.... this project was a lot of fun. I made a "Board to Box" blog on this project... you can see it here, at this link... (http://waxingmoonwood.ning.com/profiles/blogs/box-for-christine) If you like.

I like blogging these things... it makes me think through the projects a little better...

Enjoy the games today!

Looks great as usual, Ed. I do believe I already saw the box somewhere but could have been another life. :)

Sarge..

Fantastic looking box Ed, as always. I'm a big fan of your work as I enjoy making boxes myself. I really appreciate the link to your blog. Nice to see exactly how you do it. Some very familiar techniques there.
I have a real nice cherry board with some amazing "curl" that is just waiting for a similar type project.
Gonna have to wait till I'm done my oval purpleheart box tho! Ha ha.

Ed, great looking box. I really like the lines of this one. Sounds like you put quite the effort into finishing. Seems to have paid off. Nice job.

I only wish I could produce such works of art.
I'll keep practicing though.
Thank you for blogging your work, I learn from every morsel.

I`m with you on this one, when I see quality work like this I can`t decide if I should try harder or melt my equipment down into doorstops. And as far as applying a finish like that, well, let`s not even go there.
