I want to say thanks, I have heard alot of y'all talk about thompson gouges so I ordered one and the had to make my first handle. It is 18" long and made of purple heart and maple total length 28". I put it togather today and boy does this thing cut. I don't have anything that will cut like it. so thanks again

I have two of the Thompson bowl gouges and I love both of them. I have the 1/2" U and the 5/8" V. I just got the V and only used it once but my first impression was love at first turn!! The U gouge is great too and I find it very easy to find and keep the bevel rubbing with it.

Thompson is the best as far as I am concerned. I have only one of Doug's gouges that I got for Christmas but it will not be the last. BTW, great job on the handle! Congratulations.

David - great job on the handle! Looks like it would be real comfortable to use! I have the 5/8" V and the 3/4" V Thompson gouges, with Monster handles, and they are both an absolute pleasure to use!
