I ordered a Jet lathe for my son on the 30th.. I was checking the order and this is what it says
Shipping estimate: January 30, 2009 - February 13, 2009
Will it really take this long for them to ship it ?

My experience with Amazon is that everything I've ever ordered got here early. But I've never ordered a lathe from them. HTH.

It hardly ever ships that late as that this the CYA (Cover Your Assets) date.

I just had a problem with Amazon. I ordered a color laser printer in early Dec and they sent me two!! They also charged me for the second one. They had a problem with their 1-Click which became a 2-Click. When I called to try and return the extra one I got customer support in India. I had a hard time understanding anyone. I finally returned it and got a refund. I spent the last year building a new shop and buying almost all my major tools from Amazon without a problem until this.

When you order from Amazon everything is forwarded to the manufacturer or supplier. Amazon is just a huge virtual store front, so they contact the supplier and they tell Amazon when to expect delivery. It is sort of like the cable company they always say: " We will be there between noon and 5 o'clock so be waiting!!" Like already said it will show up sooner than you think! I have never had any trouble with ordering from Amazon!

Hi Keith,
On Dec 29th, I placed my order for a 1014I by jet from amazon. at that time, it said I had the last one. It gave me an estimate of Jan 7th, but it arrived Jan 5th. It took about a week, but Amazon now says they have 1014Is in stock again so I would suspect that the model you ordered would come in much quicker.

Hope yours gets here quick!

I love Amazon! I ordered my PM lathe from Amazon back when they were selling for $2200 plus free freight. It came a week earlier than expected. Seems it's typical for Amazon to give worst case estimates for shipping times. That way they're covered for shipping problems like bad weather, etc. Hang in there!
