Hi Eduard, what are the knife dimensions, will standard knives fit the Jet?

I do believed, that it is standard 12" blades. I can not find any info in manual or Jet website, except a stock number - 708821.

Hi Eduard, just measure the blades, a common size is 12" X 1" X 1/8", which most blade suppliers would have.

I used the 18% tungsten knives in my previous jointer......Rod.

I have a set of Freud's I got from Amazon. I just did a quick search & didn't find them. Infinity & Amazon do offer a 7/8" X 12" X 1/8" blade. I don't know what these are used in. I suspect the 7/8" blades could be made to work, just raise the jackscrews, but it'd be a REAL pain to switch back and forth. Here's one possibility: http://www.americannationalknife.com (http://www.americannationalknife.com/cart.asp) and click on the proper knife size. Here's another option: http://globaltooling.bizhosting.com/12_x_1_x_1_8_t1_hss_planer_knife_set_3.html. Turns out the Parks 12" planer and Powermatic 100 use the 7/8" wide knife.

Edit:Found the Freud knives. I don't know why they didn't come up in the initial search:http://www.amazon.com/Freud-C540-12-Inch-1-Inch-8-Inch/dp/B00004RK77. If you buy at Amazon, be sure to get there thru SMC. It gets SMC a cut of the action.

I've added a link above to Dimar Canada simply to illustrate that most industrial knife suppliers will carry this as a stock item. your local supplier will have them, or be able to order them as a standard item.

The Dimar knife HE818 is an 18% tungsten knife.

Eduard, the JP is based on a European machine (the Jet JPT 310 ) and so the knive is 310 mm, so 12 1/4" not 12 will be the right fit, by 25 mm ( about 1 inch) and 3 mm ( 1/8) . I went through Brian at Holbren and special ordered them but have not put them on yet. His price was great, but the knives are Titan, I don't know anything about the quality.
You can get CMT knives http://www.cheyennesales.com/catalog/cmt794.htm

There may also be other vendors - often they have a listing like razor works " European Combo Machines "

I was just messing with the settings on my Jet the other day and noticed one of the knife edges was ragged so I may be doing some swapping out pretty soon.

Titian is Global Tooling's brand of knives. A set of three is $41.05 + shipping. I have used their jointer knives and been very happy with them. http://globaltooling.bizhosting.com/planer_knives.html

Fidel, $129 for a HSS set, that seems pretty steep. One of my original set of knives just had some edge failure after what I thought was fairly light use, so I am suprised that the set costs $129. I just put on the Titan knives this weekend so I don't know how long they will stand up , but they were no where near $129.
