Here's a couple of pics of a cherry bowl I made for a friend who is chairing charity auction on Jan 30. Lance Berkman, the Houston Astros first baseman, is helping a local homeless shelter and the auction proceeds will support the shelter.

My first charity auction piece. It's 9" across and 5" high.

The SMC connection is that I got the blank in trade with Creeker George Guadiane. I sent him a box of mesquite and other species and he provided two cherry blanks, 12x12x6.

So, thanks for the lovely blank George.

Best regards, Tom, in Houston, contemplating a shape for the other cherry blank.

The charity should "rake it in" for a beautiful piece like this one...Bill...

$225.00! I was stunned. The silent auction opening ask was $70 and a couple of folks got into the bidding war.

Creeker Michael Gallagher's Copperhead pen sold for $80.

Lance Berkman gave a great testimony to over 600 people and we raised just over $12,000 for the after school program.

All in all a very satisfying entry into the world of charity donations.

Best regards, Tom

Tom, That is a super turning and the cause that it is goine too is very honorable on your part! The sharing of wood across SMC is a great thing I have done some myself.

Great work,

Jeff
