well I took a chance, I bought the grizzly 0632, I have been down to WC and used the jet 1642 but decided to give the griz a try and boy am I happy I can't tell any difference between the two I did notice there was a mistake in the catalog it said it had a steel bed but it dont it is cast iron. this thing is smooth as silk and I have $600 to spend on other toys to make up the difference

Nice looking lathe and your shop does look alot cleaner than mine:) By the looks of all those blanks that new lathe will get a good work out, keep us updated.

I always wondered about that, I figured it was cast iron but wasnt sure. Congrats on the new lathe, how bout a full review after you get some more hours on it??

Congrats on the new lathe. I was going to ask the same thing a turned bowl with no chips!:eek: I want to know how you did that. I always have a mess.;):rolleyes::cool::D

I think the reason that I have no chips is that my tools are so dull I just made dust

Yes, the Grizzly is cheaper as it is made in China as opposed to the Jet made in Taiwan.

I think you cleaned up you shop before you took the picture. That is what I would do if I was going to show off my shop.
