I'm considering buying a new jointer and am researching the quality of the "Star Shop" line of tools. They are an economical sub-set of General International (which is a more economical version of the Canadian-made General line) sold almost exclusively to some Canadian home improvement chains like Rona and Totem Hardware.

Has anyone had experience with Star Shop tools? (Not General or GI but specifically the GI "Star Shop" brand. If so, what do you think of their quality/accuracy/value, etc?

Any comments would be very much appreciated to help me with this decision.

Thanks,

Looking on the Internet there seems to be less than $100 difference between Star Shop and the General International. Didn’t know the Star Shop existed but if is cheaper something is of less quality or a feature is left off. GI has a proven track record, for less than a $100 difference go with the GI.
