View Full Version : Location of pulls on upper kitchen cabinet doors?

I need some help as to where to put pulls on our upper kitchen cabinet doors. I've used double stick tape to try a few locations and everything I've tried looks good to both myself and my wife. I'm assuming you center them on the stile (left-to-right) but I'm confused if there is a rule for the vertical placement.

I'm using the same pulls for the drawers and doors which are wire pulls with 3" center screws. Can anyone give me a way to locate them via tape measure or at least some pictures to use as a reference? I'd like to get them installed tomorrow on my day off.

I don't know if it makes any difference but the doors are raised panels and the uppers are 42" tall so the doors look kind of long and skinny sans the hardware.

Thanks,
Wes

I've always put the lower hole even with the top of the rail, centered in the style.

I'm sure others will chime in too.

Oddly enough I just finished my kitchen cabinets and had this same question. So I took a drive to the BORGS and whipped out my tape measure. I decided the knobs would be centered on the stile of course and 3" up form the bottom. This puts it slightly above the rail. I also made my cabinet stiles and rails 2.5" instead of 2.25". The bottom cabinet knobs would be 3" from the top as well.:) Take care.

In my kitchen, the knob is not in line with the top of the rail, rather, it is even with the ridge on the raised panel.

Ditto. I've always placed them at that point. Easy to remember.
I made a jig that allows the same placement on every job.

There is no real standard as far as I know on pull location. Any single manufacturer may always locate their pulls the same but it varies widely.

What I did for out kitchen was to apply double sided tape to the back of the pull and stick a few on the cabinets in different locations so LOML could see how they looked. We decided on the best look and I made a jig to get them all the same.

I always locate the bottom hole 50mm up from the bottom of the door.
