Jet is introducing a new line of bench top tools. They look to be a much better quality bench top tool than you see at the big box stores. Aimed at the woodworker who does small work like boxes but wants a quality tool but not the size of most better equipment. Here is the spec for the bandsaw that will sell for $299

Upper and lower ball bearing blade glides usually found only on larger and more expensive saws
Quick release blade tensioning
LED worklight on a flexible arm for bright illumination of the cut
Positive trunnion adjustment from 0° to 45°
Cast iron (not stamped steel or aluminum, but cast iron) table with work support extension wing
Accurate, easy to adjust aluminum fence

That little bandsaw is cute...'could be a very nice complimentary tool to someone with a large, Euro type machine for the big jobs, in addition to servicing folks who do small work, too. There have been a few times that I have missed having a smaller machine just for convenience on some tasks.

UPDATE. Here are some other tools they will offer. Notice a full line of mitersaws. The 10" slider looks interesting.

I saw them too, if you go to the jet site they have a few others that may be interesting to small shop woodworkers. Im interested to see the dust collection on their new miter saws, and I am very interested to see the new 10 inch jointer planer which is supposed to sel for $399, although it has short bed (about 44 inch length if I remember) it looks like it will fill a niche not seen before at a price point that is outstanding for the home shop woodworker.

Know what you are talking about. I have moved on to some larger tools over the years but use my Shopsmith often because sometimes bigger is not better. My projects have gotten smaller over the past couple of years. Can only use so much furniture in the house.

Exactly what I was thinking, could leave my big saw setup for resawing and have the little Jet there for scroll and small work. Maybe something to look into for sure.
