View Full Version : Red Cedar Bowl - NE

Got some fresh cut Cedar and tried a NE bowl. Very hard to get rid of tear out. Very wet wood. Had to go buy more sandpaper :eek:.
Have put one coat of Poly-wipe so far.

I think this would look better buffed to a high shine - what do you think?

I call it a "tulip" bowl. Not sure why...this is a new shape for me that reminds me of a tulip.

8" diameter - about 5" high

I plan to turn off the tenon and have a flat bottom when finished.

Looking good Rick, nice shape I think and the edge does look like a tulip somewhat, nice job!!

Nice bowl Rick! Different form - it will be interesting to see what it warps into! Love the colors in the wood! Must have smelled great in your shop!

Rick,

That's a very nice bowl. I think it would look nice with a high-gloss finish. The formal finish would contrast nicely with the organic shape.
