I was reminded today of one of the little mottos that I repeat to myself to try and keep myself running straight and fair in the shop. You know the kind of thing "measure twice cut once" etc.
The one today was "make the jig". I know it sounds dumb but its my way to remind myself that if your gonna do a job more than once and there is a jig that will make the task easier or the result better, then "make the jig".
I also repeat to myself "everything has width" whenever I am working out a design for something new. This helps me to avoid all the 3/4" undersized or oversized pieces that I usually end up with!
Anybody got any others that help you work more efficiently/safely?
