I am uploading some new videos on Casting my Christmas pen blank that I posted here a few weeks ago.

IF you are interested in the process, go to http://www.youtube.com/user/grub32 and watch.

I am also going to be posting a series of movies on finishing wood using a CA glue. That will be coming next week. Here is the pen as a reminder.

Thanks for looking,

John G

When you put us on "hold" in the video, I no longer had sound when you came back. Is that me or did you forget to put the mic on?

It was a publishing issue...Which I cant understand. I have corrected it and the new video is on its way to youtube. It is 3/4 of the way uploaded so within the hour it will be there.

I will start loading up the next two once this one comes through ok.

Thanks for the feedback, otherwise I wouldn't have caught the screw up

I appreciate the video. I've got all the equipment and partof the supplies to do casting, but was a little apprehensive in going ahead. I'm one that can read about doing something, but if you show me how to do it or demonstrate it, I get a better grasp of how it's done.

Thanks again for the videos.

John,
Thank you for taking the time and effort to post the videos. I have not done any casting yet, but do have a pressure pot ready to go when I do. Your pointers will definitely save a lot of frustration and reduce the time spent learning to do this the right way.

Thanks again,
John

What do you use for a pressure pot ? The only reason I haven't is they seem costly.

Here's the cheapest I know of http://http://search.harborfreight.com/cpisearch/web/search.do?keyword=pressure+pot&Submit=Go

John,

I enjoyed the videos -- all three sets: PR Casting, Making Ribbons, and the Christmas Pen. But, it appears that the final installment of each series is missing from YouTube.

Just got back in town. Casting under pressure is not essential unless you are going to be putting something into the resin. If you are going to be doing that, it is essential. The pressure forces the PR into the tiny crevices and helps drive out the air bubbles. Several of the blanks that I have posted with ribbons and wood need. Also, if you decide you are going to cast pine cones, labels, acorns, coffee beens its necessary.

You can get bubbles out with a vibrating surface such as a drill press, lathe, scroll saw.

As for video 4 for the candy cane pen, it hasn't been edited yet but will be up sometime tomorrow. I will be posting a video soon on the pressure pot and creating a vacuum. Probably within a week or two. Some of the videos that I put up seem to have been messed up and that is why they are not being seen. I will look into it and see if I can fix them up.

Any more questions, please feel free to ask.
