a late Christmas gift just finished today.

8" tall by 2.25"wide.
Curly maple and blood wood.

Yes indeed. From what I have read, most things in turning are opposite of flatwork and if that is the case I have a LOT to learn but folks like you and your website have been a real shove toward the vortex you speak of.:)

I will come back once I am ready and make sure I get some good starter tools.

Great looking pepper mill. That's another addiction I want to try someday.:)
