These are a couple of belated Christmas gifts. The rims are wide with a taper down to about 1/4'' at the bottom. They both measure 9'' wide 3 and 3 1/2 for the heights. Sealcoat finish buffed with mink oil.

Mike,
The sapwood contrast really sets it off for both of these.

Those are both awfully nice bowls Mike! A good example of wood orientation too. One with the center of the log towards the bottom and one towards the top, aren't they?

Mike:
These two will make somebody very happy. They are just beautiful! I like the thicker rimmed bowls. BTW, I've got some mink oil in my shoe polishing kit; think I will give it a try. Thanks for showing your work.
All the best.

Mike, Your work is always wonderful! I think what helps us to see what is there, are your pictures, they are always crisp and with the darkness in the back the turnings are the focal point for the eyes.

I am sure you have been asked this before but I really would like to see a picture of your lightbox setup so I can replicate it. What type of lights do you use? I am just in awe of your turning and picture taking skills!

Geat bowls and thanks for sharing!

Happy New Year!

Thanks Jeff, and yea I have been asked that before. The photo tent is from ebay (cheapo) Don't remember where I got the back drop from. As far as the lights, I really don't think they are that important, that is the kind of bulb you use. Its more of the position that they are in. I use a tri-pod, 10 second delay, and no flash. The room is dark. I usually have to tweak the pics a little with the camara software.
