Would this timber choice for a breadboard end concern you? Friend and I are in disagreement on the subject. Thanks in advance.

The powder post beetle holes trump the pith when it comes to concern.
I wouldn’t use that board. Same reasons Richard mentions
It’s is a very rustic looking table design so that could be a consideration.
I Hope shabby chic isn’t coming back
Aj
In the context of the rustic table design I suppose I'd give it a pass, but I would have flipped it over so the pith side was down.
Sharp solves all manner of problems.
A real-world dining table is going to get food spilled on it. You'll want to wipe it up. If the table has cracks and knots and holes in it, you're going to be wiping food into the cracks. That table, while it may appeal to interior decorators, is a fail.
From the paper cited in another current thread on powderpost:
"Prevention:
...Wood that is suspect should not be used, especially if fresh emergence holes or powder is present. Many of the most serious infestations occur from using old lumber from a barn or woodpile to panel a room or build an addition."
No place for juvenile wood before any other consideration.
