    hollowing tools

After a long wait I received my Clark hollowing system. I had started hollowing an old dry gnarly maple burl that was just beyond the capability of my old homemade snake setup. The new rig is as I hoped, rugged and smooth acting, and allowed me to complete that roughout without any drama. It has a 1 1/4" boring bar with a 3/4" socket to which I added 1/2" and 5/8" adapters. Following Don Frank's suggestion I got a 30" long bar which I think was a good choice. The ability to rotate the bar and change the cutter attack angle is a nice feature. I had to do a bit of deburring but the important parts fit and work well and I am very glad to have it.

Nice. A Clark is on my wish list. But not until I move in a few years. I don't have room to use one in my current shop.
