    I need some video ideas

I am a new Middle School (grade 6-8) woodshop teacher. Much more on that later. But my immediate need is for a few videos I can place in my sub folder that will hold the interest of 12 - 14 yearolds . It's a pressing need because I have jury duty soon and I don't want any problems for the sub.

By the way, I teach a hand tool curriculum and my students love it. And they are good.

I remember a series of maybe Youtube videos of a Japanese craftsman making a small chest of drawers by hand that was absolutely hypnotizing. Does anyone have that link?

And it needn't be woodworking, Any craft would be qood. The key is that it should be fascinating rather than simply instructional. Just channel your inner adolescent when giving your recommendation.

    Any suggestions?

As always, thank you for your generosity.

Those videos are under a user named kotaro Tanaka

There are several good series there.

Ge Hong is another user with a lot of hand tools content.

Curtis Buchanan has an enormously long series on making a chair.

I'm another fan of the Frank Howarth videos. They are as entertaining as they are informative.

The Toshio Odate vid on Martha Stuart many years ago of him making shoji screens is fun.
    I enjoy him so much.
Not sure if you can work with it but here it is :

There are a lot of "the Woodright's Shop" programs available through PBS:

    I found this one interesting

I think Jr Strasil mentioned this one to us:

I was going to mention the Folkstreams site as well. You can spend a lot of time there.... Here is their "crafts" list, which has woodworking, metalworking, instrument making, and so forth:

I'll second the chariot video as a good candidate including discussions on shop safety (see scene of bandsaw milling...). I have ten and thirteen year old boys and plan to show it to them soon.

    Good luck
