    banyan wood

Has anyone ever turned the wood from a banyan tree. I have to cut mine down, which was killed by the freeze this past winter.

Never turned it, but I remember seeing some spalted banyan pen blanks for sale on eBay... Pretty stuff, but I was too cheap to win the auctions. IIRC, 'Joel in Hawaii' was the seller

I've never turned it before but it would be worth it for you to at least give it a try! Post some photos of what you turn from it - if you decide to give it a shot!

I have turned banyan pen blanks before. It has been awhile and must not have been bad or I would have remembered it... I even have some spalted banyan and as before do not remember anything bad... When I say that I do not remember it being bad for tear out, no unusual dust, etc...
