    quick question

    can you engrave polypropylene ?

    I went to the Synrad applications site and did not find any entries but here is a German site which indicates cutting and marking are good but engraving is iffy.

    For some reason, polypropylene (and polyethylene) don't vapourise well, but melt under the heat of the laser.

    You just end up with a puddle of molten plastic and when it's set hard again the "engraving" is barely visible.

    For cutting it, you needs lots of power and air-assist to blow away the molten stuff.
