Wood carving accents in jade
I know this is a wood carving forum, but I'm playing with some jade that I would like to insert in some carvings and bowls. Having a hard (forgive the pun) time carving it with even diamond bits, as all the ones I have only have a thin layer of industrial diamond on them. Does anyone have any experience carving jade? Tools, techniques, advice appreciated. Thanks!

I have no direct experience with Jade or Jadite.
However, I do also hang out at the TikiCentral forums (www.tikiroom.com), and people there do beautiful work with stone, including Jade. Please come back and let us know what they say. Chuck

Jon,
Watched them carve Jade in China. They used a rubber wheel with an abrasive fluid drip over it to carve it. Obviously this is the modern method, somehow it was done by hand in the past. Mike
