Cabinetry - Pantry Slides

I'm doing a little research to find some pantry hardware for a pull-out. It seems there is a lot of variation in price, with less variation in function.

This appears to be exactly what I am looking for, but at $259.00, it seems a little steep. It is a single heavy duty top/bottom mount guided pantry slide, which advertises zero declination, and support up to 450 lbs.

I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions you might have. Not surprisingly, I spent 2 hours the borgs today and found nothing other than regular drawer slides.

(The other alternative is to buy a pre-made unit for between $700-$1000, but since I've got 3 weeks off and already have most of the materials, why not build it myself?)

I assume this is going to be a pull out where the entire unit pulls out and has access from both sides.

Two regular drawer slides on the bottom and two at the top along with one "on the flat" on top and maybe bottom will give you what you need. The regular ones support the weight and the on the flat ones keep it from racking left and right. With 100# full extension slides it will hold a lot of weight.

6 full extension runners is still cheaper than the dedicated units and likely a better system. I know some professional cabinet makers who do this regularly on pull outs.

Aaron, I was thinking of the same thing for my kitchen cabinets after I watched the wife getting to her pots and pans. I made those same type of roll out shelves for her heavier pots,pans and lids and used some 3/4
extension ball bearing shelf guides to handle it all....she likes it! I'm going to convert another set of base cabinets to the same idea in the next couple of weeks...she is really liking the changes already.

I even took one set of the regular ball bearing slides and mounted them beneath the roll out unit on one shelf and it works just as well as mounting them to the side of the roll out on the other one! The reason for trying that approach was the Lowe's was out of the undermount type slides and I didn't want to travel around and hunt them down...so I used what they had and it worked.The undermount slides can and do run into more money in most places I have looked for them. Hope this helps....

I don't know if this any help but I did this unit with 7 pairs of 100 lb accuride full extension slides. It is very stout and works well.
