    After a Long Looooong timeeeeeeeee....Today I worked on my 4th axis... Did some flutes and Vcarving on scrap wood ...

    So 1 is horizontal, 2 rotates the pc, 3 moves the cutting head in and out, what does 4 do?

    1- Along X-axis
    2- Along Y-axis
    3- Along Z-axis
    4- Rotary Axis

    At a time I use only 3-axis i.e. 1 +3+ 4

    Oh... Sorry.

    Hum...

    So the x axis is simple enough - back and forth.

    For the y axis, or vertical axis movement, does the rotary indexer increment to rotate the work pc to mimick vertical movement?

    kahlid, what software are you using to a) generate the file and b) software to convert to 4rth axis wrap

    yes X-axis back and forth and Z-axis up and down and rotary indeser rotate in degrees

    Jim I am using Artcam for both a) and b) I have independent rotary axis so no swapping of Y-axis to A-axis...
