Funny story about the wood. Several months ago I hit the local try surgeon lookin for some burl. I looked over at the firewood pile and it was full of cury maple. I pointed at it and asked him what the heck he was doing and he about had a cow. The tree was suppose to go over to his saw mill but one of his new employees didn't know and threw it in with the firewood. It was all cut in 18 inch pieces and split into quarters. I got a full truck load of it for 20 bucks. Lots of nice pieces for small turnings (pens, ornaments and handles and such) but not big enough for large bowls.

Nice work Shane. I've got an old bench top radial drill press with surface rust on the shafts. I'm also missing the little pad that let's the set screw lock the powerhead down to prevent rotation. Your pictures motivated me to just get it done.
