Pithy breadboard

Would this timber choice for a breadboard end concern you? Friend and I are in disagreement on the subject. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn’t use that board. Same reasons Richard mentions
It’s is a very rustic looking table design so that could be a consideration.

In the context of the rustic table design I suppose I'd give it a pass, but I would have flipped it over so the pith side was down.

A real-world dining table is going to get food spilled on it. You'll want to wipe it up. If the table has cracks and knots and holes in it, you're going to be wiping food into the cracks. That table, while it may appeal to interior decorators, is a fail.
