    Pine Case for a Plane

Resaw some leftover Pine to 1/2" thick...through dovetails for the box itself....a raised panel lid with just simple Miter joints?

Handles due to the weight of the plane...fancy hinges around in back..

    Smudge on the lid?

Open the lid to show the plane..

Bottom is a solid Pine panel, with a rebate all the way around the edges...to fit into a groove in the box's sides, and ends...so that the panel is flush with the bottom of the box's sides...

Finish is 1 coat of Witch's Brew Stain, and 2 coats of Amber Shellac....Hardware is from Hobby Lobby....plane is from Stanley, a No. 39 3/8" Dado Plane.

The biggest question I have: Did you use the plane when you made the box to keep it in?

Didn't need any 3/8" wide dados milled...

    However..these 2 were used quite a bit..
