    Latest Christmas Ornaments

I've finally had some shop time and was able to turn these ornaments for my grandkids. For perspective, the tallest of the snow persons is 2 3/8" tall. They are made from fir.

Nicely done, lines are crisp and clean. The colors are perfect.

Very nice, David. Are the trees turned between centers with two off-axis points?

David, why do the snow people look so unhappy? Like they are afraid they will have to go back into the snow!

Maria -- Three of the trees are turned with three off-axis points. David Reed Smith wrote an article published in the American Woodturner on the technique. He has the article and additional information on his website, http://www.davidreedsmith.com/articl...ntrictrees.htm. They are fun and easy to turn (once you get the hang of it).

I believe the snow people's expressions are a matter of personal interpretation. Personally, I think the snow woman looks fairly stern -- like she's about to give her snow man a piece of her mind. However, I cannot claim any credit for their expressions. They were decorated by my beautiful bride.

In that case I would say they are perfect!

...could that be defined as a ..."chilling thought"...?
