First Hand Tool Build: Joiner's Mallet in Ash

Coming back to working with wood after quite some time. As I'm building now in a laundry closet with a foldable bench I've decided to use only hand tools (which I've discovered to be very enjoyable to work with.) Anyway's here's the first tool I've built completely with hand tools: a joiner's mallet in ash. It's not perfect but...it's a mallet so, I'm not too worried about it lol. I used japanese hand saws throughout the job and was amazed at their precision and tiny kerf (I'll include an image of that)..

Nice mallet. I'm a big fan of Japanese saws. Be careful you don't bounce the blade on your hand, you end up with a very well spaced dotted line of blood spots.

Nice work, though I might have considered riving the wood for the handle as it appears you have some runout on the grain that may be prone to split upon impact.

Nice mallet. My Father made a mallet from a Louisville Slugger bat back in the day. It's a Mickey Mantle signature. It's the coolest mallet.
