skil model 400 belt sander belts

Back in 2014 a thread was asking about the belt size for a old 0bsolete skill 400 belt sander.
I inherited a model 400 years ago from my Dad. I recently had a use for it and needed a belt or two. The correct size is 4 x 21 3/4 in different grits. found them online at Wood Workers supply in Albuquerque ,NM
Placed a order for 10. 5 80 and 5 120 grit. Arrived in a few days via UPS.
Could not wait to try smoothing eastern red band sawed for a picknic table project. Belts fit tight. So tight I thought they were too small. When finally on it tracked perfect and 1 80 grit belt smoothed all the boards needed well enough too get the finish I wanted with 100 grit on a palm sander.

Now that 4 x 21 3/4 belts are available and you can buy a used but not used up Skil model 400 for Cheap. The one I have runs and works like new. I did replace the 1/16th cork sheet under the skid plate. I have seen a few in running condition for sale here and there for $25 or less. Have a nice day. Ken
