I just finished construction of a dining table from reclaimed oak beams. The beams came from a mill that was constructed in the late 1800s. They appear to be some type of burr oak or post oak.
The top finished out at 44” wide x 12’ long x 6/4” thick. It is attached to the apron boards using clips that should provide the top plenty of room to breathe. The legs are tapered from 4” to 3” on two sides and are attached using traditional mortise and tenon jointery.
I hope to start finishing the table over the weekend, and I plan to use General Finishes American Walnut stain and Arm-R-Seal.
I will post a picture soon.
