Steel euro bloc set with chip limiters

I see Laguna has a "starter set". Are there others? 'seems to me the chip limiters are a good idea for odd ball hand fed pattern kinda' stuff. TIA!

Decided to skip the limiters and go with an amana set with a steel head. I see they offer a 100mm & a 120mm head. Any suggestions on what size to get?

Hi Jim, what shaper do you have and what spindle speeds are available?

    Regards, Rod.

I'm running the 120mm head on a 5hp grizzly. I see no reason for the 100 over the 120 on a industrial shaper.

I agree. Bigger is typically, but not always better. I'm curious as to why they offer the two very similar heads. I'm wondering if available rub collars have something to do with it, or table opening size on lighter duty shapers.

Hi, the main reason is spindle speeds.

Many of the smaller shapers don't have a low spindle speed so they need smaller cutters, along with the lack of strength of the spindle.

Pick a cutter that has a cutting circle equal to the guide ring you have, or plan to purchase.

    The head I have has a 100mm cutting circle...............Rod.

    That makes sense.
