    solar kiln for storage?

I am thinking of building a solar kiln. Thinking the Virginia tech solar kiln plans will work. I currently have some 1" through 5" thick wood that is air drying. their will be a lot of times where will not have wood to dry. Wondering what need to do to keep from getting to hot when empty. Be nice to be able to store wood when not need to be kiln drying. going to build the one that can dry up to 1000 bf.

Could you just leave the vents wide open?

I leave the vents side open on mine. No problems in several years of use. It's most important to open the upper vents so that the hot air can escape.
