    Drum sander; supermax or g1066r

Howdy folks, I bought a supermax 19/38 for work and and after using it I decided I'll need to get one for retirement too. Looking at them the supermax is 1500.00 but I'll have to pay tax. The griz is 1900.00 with shipping, so about 280.00 more. I imagine that second drum is well worth the extra 300.00. Any thoughts?

I think the 1066z is worth the differences. I like the hook and loop paper attachment and nicer feed belt. That being said they are not even close to a low end wide belt. I am upgrading my 1066z to a belt soon after the walls are done.
Glad its my shop I am responsible for - I only have to make me happy.

I was lucky enough to already be a member of sawmill creek when I was looking at sanders. Skipped the drum sanders and went with the small open end wide belt from Grizzly, and have been very happy with it.

I too agree with Mike and Jim. For just a little more a wide belt is the way to go.

I actually went the dual drum sander route with the Supermax 25x2 with the extension tables. I love it.
